Haier, a China-based home electronics company, prototyped a large-screen TV that does not have a power plug and is provided with electricity by using a wireless power transfer technology. The company had a demonstration at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The innovation uses a technology called 'Wificity'. The circuitary converts standard AC power to a higher frequency and using a resonant coil feeds it to a power source. Then, the device to be powered is tuned electronically to the same frequency as the source in a process called resonant magnetic coupling.
This is the first tv without power plug in the world. However the commercialization schedule of the TV has not been determined yet. Until then we got to wait before can bring it home!
